Sometimes our siblings can be really annoying…

Thanks, Annie, for helping me with that video!

Sometimes our siblings do things that are distracting us from what we are trying to do. Sometimes they make noises or pester us in ways that we find annoying. Sometimes they even do it on purpose just to annoy us.

The loving thing to do is:

stay calm
do not get angry or irritated
speak in a kind, loving voice
kindly ask them if they could possibly stop
offer an alternative if you know of one, like going in a different room
if they don’t stop after you’ve asked in a loving way, calmly go and let your mom know what’s happening so she can help you with the situation

There could be many different solutions to the trouble we showed in the video, but there’s never any reason to be unkind and unloving by getting offended, yelling, or speaking harshly.

If you realize that you are being annoying to someone else, or are keeping them from doing what they’re trying to do, the loving thing to do is either stop what you are doing, or maybe go somewhere else to do it. Of course, it is never appropriate to ignore someone who is wanting you to stop, even if they are not being kind in the way they’re doing it. You should never be annoying on purpose; it’s unloving. Be considerate to your siblings by paying attention to what they don’t like, and caring about their comfort and peace.

What about you? Have you ever been annoyed with your sibling and yelled at them, or have you ever been annoying, even on purpose? I know I have. I pray that the Holy Spirit, through your conscience, will remind you if you are being unloving in these ways, and that you will be able to obey the Lord and stop right away!

Love,

Rachel
